The Underlyng Descrimnation In Educaton

Submitted By: Rayonah .W

Education is something that is highly valued in American culture. Education is suppose to be the key to success and one of the many equal opportunities that any citizen of America is offered. However, there are many aspects of life that will determine what quality of education you will receive. Aspects such as wealth status and race. Wealth status being how much money you have. Which can determine at times where you live, and what lifestyle you'll have the pleasure of experencing. Race being what category of ethnicity you fall into.Aspects that obviously should have nothing to do with the quality of education you receive. But as you watch this video clip I have you will see how much they really do.

As you can see after watching the above video clip on race and education. Education in America is very unequal because the quality of education is determined by all the wrong things. It is absolutely unfair!!! I'm  appauled that property tax is the main source of fundng for education because not every neighborhood pays a property tax because some areas have more families that are renters.Mainly because people living in those areas dont have the credit and other resources that would help them purchase a home. Despite all the inequalties that we have in America as people coming from different ethnicities and areas of the world.I feel education should be one of the things that America offers that is equally disbursed to all people rich or poor, balck or white because education alone will change a persons life despite their up bringing because it opens doors. As i end my blog I ask this question how can education at its current state possibly open the doors to the "inner city less privleged youth" if race and wealth are the aspects of determination? As you answer this question think about the fact that children don't have any control when it comes to deciding what family and race their born into. I think that alone will make it easier you to see how unequal the things determining education are.
