Deviance Of Child Pageants In Our Everyday Lives
Deviance plays a very big part in our society. It tries to take us out of a category that everyone acts and think the same and the deviant side of that is in reality we can't. There are two of the many kinds of deviance that I have learned about. The first one is conformity, the little girls will follow along with their mothers and other children even though they if they don't want. The mothers of the children pageants they become very competitive without knowing it. The mothers in the video below are still coaching them while they are on the stage. That is a good example of conformity.  They will even take as far as giving out negative sanctions, when the girls are not obedient, or win the pageant. The other one is obedience the girls follow every instruction that their mothers and trainers tells them to do. Being obedience the mothers and judges will give them a positive sanction, they will either become runner up or winner of the pageant. A little farther on in the video there is a little girl that was obedient and got a crown for her good behavior.
Deviance being a part of life the little girls do not have to comply with orders. It's up to the girls to decide if they want to be deviant or not and if so what are the consequences they will face. It not only let is step out the box, but it let us violates our every day norm from the human perspective. The ideal standardized women in our everyday lives is that we are suppose to portray this image to be dressed to impress, make up on, hair done, nails done, high heels. Now what if I decide not to comb my hair, put on my makeup, or wears my dress with my high heels that a good conception of what I think that deviance mean.
Not to be able to be deviant really put a strain on me as a woman and children we are raising, to bet this unrealistic image. To see this through a deviance perspective we are not this Barbie. We have our troubles, flaws, weight problems, and all other realistic issues we have to deal with. They doll these little girls up and put them on stage and expect them not to have any flaws. they put make on them, hair extensions in their hair, dentures, or flippers in their mouths like 6 to 12 years old don't have missing teeth. In the United States it’s acceptable but in other cultures its frowned apon. These are some of my aspects on deviance.
