The Family: The Past, The Present, and To Infinity and Beyond

The Family in the past would have been defined as a hardworking husband and father and a wife and mother who contributes to the daily household duties. But, today, the family structure looks a little different. You still have your standard Husband and father and wife and mother, but mom contributes just as much as dad just like the infamous "Cosby Family'' did in some instances. But in society today grandma, granddad, aunties, and uncles are also under the same roof with the children. The fact is that throughout history families have grown with the extended families living arrangements in the home.

Not just extended family, but the friends and neighbors of the extended family are included under this enormous roof full of people. With little to no room to think or live under the circus number amount of people under one roof, this was the reason why the housing economy was booming several years before.

The future for families all around the world are the following : More people, More expenses, and even Bigger headaches, but you have to love them because they're your family so suck it up and deal with  it.

    Family Tradition Variation

Ashley I agree that the “traditional” image of the family has greatly changed. So often when the present family is pictured the image you see is the single parent homes and homes where grandparents are now the parents.
When I look at the structure of the family I truly see a village. I see the family where the children have returned home with their children. Part of this is because of the current economic stress that we are faced with. The days where one income could meet and at times exceed the needs of the family are a thing of the past. Families now need two or more incomes to help make ends meet. Every thing has gone up yet paychecks have remained the same making it almost impossible to provide for ones family. I would say this picture is becoming more of the “norm” then white picket fence with two parents, two children and a dog picture that we once knew. Fred D
