As Americans we tend to look at each other in terms of age, economic class, religion, ethnicity, and race. In today’s society ethnicity, and race often have a greater impact on us as individuals mainly because this is what sets us apart from each other.
Here it is 2011 and people are still being “judged by the color of their skin and not by the content of their character” a very famous quote by Dr. Martin Luther King. Ideally I would like to live in a world where everyone is treated with the same level of respect. Am I asking for too much? I think not. Race has played and continues to play a major role in today’s society. Have you ever walked into a store and felt like all eyes are on you because you’re black? Well I have and it’s not a good feeling.
